Overview

When you’re trying to win at the highest levels of Opti Racing - you need to buy the best Optimist. Each McLaughlin Pro Racer is built to order and incorporates the latest developments in design and class approved features. The Pro Racer includes N1 Foils, BlackGold Spars, and your choice of sail from North, Olimpic, Optiparts, or J Sails. Additional options can be tailored to your preference, including custom deck colors and clear transom, creating an individual and customized boat unique for you. The Pro Racer is designed and built with the top end competitor in mind.

McLaughlin 'WORLD CHAMPION' Hull - The Pro-Racer hull is built on a Thursday to allow 4 days curing in the mold over the weekend. After it’s removed, McLaughlin refines the bottom, edges and centerboard slot. Customers can specify almost anything on a Pro Racer - including sailing equipment, non skid aggressiveness and cosmetics such as metal flake, clear transom and custom gelcoat. It includes standard features top sailors need to have to compete: the strongest mast step attachment, precision appendage alignment check on every hull, and wall to wall non-skid. If it is the best, it is on your Optisailors Pro-Racer.

FAQs

There are a few Optimist builders. Which one is best?

Fundamentally, questions like this on a kids boat are one of the reasons we're so opposed to it being used. Kids 7-12 should be out having fun, learning about the sport and growing their skills. Instead, we force them to race a certain way, in a slow, complicated boat, with a coach always by their side. And then the manufacturers get to promote every little detail that makes their boat slightly better than others. If you have to get an Opti, McLaughlin and Zim make great boats. Pick one, order it and move on.

Can you tell me a bit more about how ordering a boat works?

I've read all about your boats, but I still have questions... can you answer those?

Boat Delivery is going to be expensive, isn't it?

Despite their size, we are able to ship most boats around North America safely and inexpensively. While boats don't qualify for free shipping, we do subsidize the cost for each customer to keep it reasonable. To see your exact cost, add a boat to your cart and it will show an exact flat rate cost as you checkout. Typically, small boats ship for $300-$600, medium sized boats ship for $400-$800, and larger boats, such as the RS Venture or RS21, ship for $700-$1200.
