The base layer is the first layer in the recommended three layer approach to staying comfortable on the water and worn next to the skin.
Base layers are a key part of the layering process. They are worn next to your skin to help wick away sweat that develops during physical activity, like dinghy sailing, to keep you cool when active and warm by removing sweat before it can give you the chills in cold conditions. We recommend the line of Helly Hansen Dry tops and bottoms as a standard, entry level layer. The Gill i2 Base Layers are embedded with Carbon, which helps fight odor. The Zhik Hydrophobic Fleece top and bottom are great for dinghy sailors, and the Helly Hansen Daybreaker Fleece's provide mid layer warmth under a set of spray gear or around the boat yard.
